  MV Orion took us on extraordinary diving adventure

  The Pinnacle is impressive with the occasional Manta Ray gracefully swimming over the forests of Gregonian Sea Fans that adorn the spectacular overhangs this divine spot is renowned for. After feasting our eyes on the coral formations and darting multicoloured fish here, we discovered no major Mata Cleaning Stations, and so moved on to explore Nelivaru Thila  near Soneva Fushi Island Resort. Mantas populate the radiant coral forests here as well, and we enjoyed the sight of a couple of Matas cleaning and a gentle Guitar Shark relaxing on the sandy seabed. We made no additional discoveries though we attempted with a third dive as well.

  Our dive into Dhengali Haa Thila in the neighborhood of Royal Island Resort on the fourth day was a reward for the senses. The explosive beauty here consisted of large numbers of scintillating Fusiliers, Giant Trevally, Turtles, Porcelain Shrimp and clusters of Anemones, among whose amphibious tentacles the orange and white Clown Fish and minuscule crabs played hide and seek.  Though the darting little fish and crabs are hard to photograph, we persisted and managed to claim some snaps to display with pride.  With this amazing beginning to the day, the seven hour crossing from Baa Atoll to Rasdhoo Atoll that night failed to dampen our spirits. And after the trip came to an end, there were more opportunities to expound the undersea adventure.

  The first site to be explored was Rasdhoo Madivaru reef. It teemed with Eagle Rays that darted under the waves in all their spotted glory, remarkably similar to a bird with their pointed noses. During the second dive there, we spotted twelve Eagle Rays at a time, seeming to fly through the water. Grey Reef Sharks lurked around as well, slow and watchful, and a large school of Jacks, Big Dogtooth Tuna, and Napolean Wrasse completed the picture, swimming in mesmerizing patterns in the water.
